Sam at the Forestry Center

Sad to say, the Forestry Center Lift is not working due to the economy. I am sure it is expensive to pay the insurance on it and since there was only one other family there the whole time Sam and I were there.........That can't be good. This has been a really good place to go when the weather is bad and OMSI or Children's Museum are packed with every family in town. There are so many fun things to do there. The facility is beautiful and the displays are just about the right size (not to big). We can pretend to ride on a real white water raft with life jackets and all (except for the water), climb on a real tree cutting machine, sit in a real smoke jumper parachute seat and guide it over a virtual landing zone, sit in a real African Safari jeep, ride a pretend train in Russia, sit on a boat in China, and get in a tree cage in South America. Then there is the exhibit side which is ever changing. It would be sad for this museum to go under. Sam had fun there today. I don't think he has ever been there without his big sister to tell him what to do. We did everything at Sam (snail's) speed.

Where do two mom's go on Mother's Day.....

Silver Falls! Wow. This was an Oregon State park about 1 1/2 hours from Portland. The kids woke me up with breakfast in bed complete with coffee and flowers! We loaded in the car and drove to Silver Falls. Looks like a super fun place to camp this summer. There are 10 waterfalls on a 9 mile loop. We went to the South Falls, the North Falls, and the Upper North Falls........Unbelievably beautiful. All was well until we were hiking behind the South Falls and Sharon smacked her head on a low rock and started to bleed... a lot. I was completely unprepared and we had to hold pressure on her head with a park map. The photo is after the clean up with the map and a nice lady's wad of toilet paper she had in her pocket! Happy Mother's Day Sharon!

A few of my favorite mothers!

Happy Mother's Day to all the wonderful mothers in our lives. I am learning as I get older that it is not an easy job. My mom, both of my grandmothers, and my aunt ann have shown me an infinite amount of love and support in my life. I love you all.
Over the last decade I have met and watched some of my best friends become awesome mothers. Each one of us has helped each other through rough times and I cherish them all. I feel so lucky to have so many caring, nurturing, and loving mothers to learn from.
